 Who’s Who’ In The Dir, Swat and Chitral ”  Confidential Report by Secret Department of British India.

“Who’s Who’ In The Dir, Swat and Chitral ”  was a confidential report published by the Political & Secret Department, Government of British India in 1933. The particular report covered the leading personalities of that era and provided basic information about them. The author has made an endeavour to provide details about those personalities who belonged to Dir State and whose names has been mentioned in that report. The details of those personalities is given below in alphabetical order (Part 6/ Last Part).

34. Sardar Khan: Sardar Khan is usually known as Bibior Khan. He lives at Bibior and is a distant cousin of the Nawab of Dir. He was formerly a Jamadar in the Dir Levies but was dismissed in 1925 for inefficiency and misbehavior. He is addicted to drugs.

35. Shad Mohammad Khan: Shah Mohammad Khan is from Gambir, Shahi Khel. He was driven out of his ancestral estate by Said Ahmad Khan, when the later was in possession of Barwa. It was restored to Gambir by Nawab Badshah Khan and is now known as Gambir Khan. He belongs to the present Nawab’s faction.

36. Sher Afzal: Sher Afzal is from Mast Khel sub-tribe. He was formerly Khan of Satbar Killi. He is nephew of Said Ahmad Khan of Barwa, whose political lead he followed. He is about sixty years of age. He has a body of thirty armed retainers and lives in exile in Pewra, Bajaur.

37. Sher Malik: Sher Afzal of Panjkora is one of the most influential Maliks in the Sultan Khel tribe. He is a Subedar of the Nawab’s Tiarkhors. He is usually known as “Maira Malik”.

38. Zarif Khan: Zarif Khan is from Rabat. He is nephew of the late Abdullah Khan, with whom he was not on good terms. He was placed in possession of the estates of Abdullah Khan by the Nawab in 1913. But these estates were again taken away from him and restored to Abdullah Khan in 1915. For this reason he headed a revolt of Sind Khans against the Nawab in December of that year which was soon quelled. He is not a man of much character. He is a Kursi Nashin. Soon after the accession of Shah Jahan Khan, his fort was burnt by the Nawab and his property taken possession of by Abdullah Khan. He lived for a time at Mayar in Jandul as an exile under the protection of Alamzeb Khan. On Alamzeb Khan’s eviction from Jandul Zarif Khan took refuge in Dheri Alladhand, where he still lives.

دیر، سوات اور چترال ایجنسی میں کون ہے‘‘ ایک خفیہ رپورٹ تھی جسے پولیٹیکل اینڈ سیکرٹ ڈیپارٹمنٹ، گورنمنٹ آف برٹش انڈیا نے 1933 میں شائع کیا تھا۔ خاص رپورٹ میں اس دور کی اہم شخصیات کا احاطہ کیا گیا تھا اور ان کے بارے میں بنیادی معلومات فراہم کی گئی تھیں۔ مصنف نے ان شخصیات کے بارے میں تفصیلات فراہم کرنے کی کوشش کی ہے جن کا تعلق ریاست دیر سے تھا اور جن کے نام اس رپورٹ میں درج کیے گئے ہیں۔ ان شخصیات کی تفصیلات حروف تہجی کے حساب سے ذیل میں دی گئی ہیں (حصہ 6/ آخری حصہ)۔ 34. سردار خان: سردار خان کو عام طور پر بی بیور خان کے نام سے جانا جاتا ہے۔ وہ بی بیور میں رہتا ہے اور دیر کے نواب کا دور کا کزن ہے۔ وہ پہلے دیر لیویز میں جمعدار تھے لیکن 1925 میں نا اہلی اور بد سلوکی کی وجہ سے برطرف کر دیا گیا۔ وہ منشیات کا عادی ہے۔ 35. شاد محمد خان: شاہ محمد خان کا تعلق گمبیر، شاہی خیل سے ہے۔ اسے سید احمد خان نے اپنی آبائی جائیداد سے نکال دیا تھا، جب بعد میں بروا کے قبضے میں تھا۔ اسے نواب بادشاہ خان نے گمبیر میں بحال کیا اور اب گمبیر خان کے نام سے جانا جاتا ہے۔ ان کا تعلق موجودہ نواب کے دھڑے سے ہے۔ 36. شیر افضل: شیر افضل مست خیل ذیلی قبیلے سے ہے۔ وہ پہلے ستبر کلی کے خان تھے۔ وہ بروا کے سید احمد خان کے بھتیجے ہیں، جن کی سیاسی قیادت کی اس نے پیروی کی۔ ان کی عمر تقریباً ساٹھ سال ہے۔ اس کے پاس تیس مسلح محافظ ہیں اور وہ پیوڑا، باجوڑ میں جلاوطنی کی زندگی گزار رہے ہیں۔ 37. شیر ملک: پنجکوڑہ کا شیر افضل سلطان خیل قبیلے کے سب سے بااثر ملکوں میں سے ایک ہے۔ وہ نواب کے تیارکروں کے صوبیدار ہیں۔ وہ عام طور پر "مائرہ ملک" کے نام سے مشہور ہیں۔ 38. ظریف خان: ظریف خان کا تعلق رباط سے ہے۔ وہ مرحوم عبداللہ خان کے بھتیجے ہیں، جن کے ساتھ ان کے تعلقات اچھے نہیں تھے۔ اسے 1913 میں نواب نے اس کا قلعہ نواب نے جلا دیا اور اس کی جائیداد عبداللہ خان نے اپنے قبضے میں لے لی۔ وہ عالم زیب خان کی حفاظت میں جلاوطنی کے طور پر جندول کے علاقے مایار میں مقیم رہے۔ عالم زیب خان کی جندول ظریف سے بے دخلی پر خان نے ڈھیری الہند میں پناہ لی جہاں وہ اب بھی رہتا ہے۔
