Nawabzada Salahuddin Saeed Khan Tanoli, 1979. Info Blog and Picture Nawabzada Salahuddin is the present Chief of Chief of Tanoli Tribe and Tanawal area and the present Nawab of Amb. He is the son of Nawab Muhammad Saeed Khan. He holds the record of being the youngest parliamentarian ever to be elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan and then went on to be elected five times to the National Assembly of Pakistan (from 1985 to 1997), a feat only achieved by seven other Pakistani parliamentarians, including the former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He held portfolios in the federal government, such as, parliamentary secretary and standing committee chairman during his tenure. He has also stayed as care taker provincial minister in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.  Citadel of Herat Or Qala Ikhtyaruddin, Herat, Afghanistan, 1933 (c). Herat, in the fertile valley of Hari-Rud, was settled as early as the sixth century B.C.E. A mound located to the north of the Old City, known as Kuhandazh (or Kohandez) may have been the site of the fort that Alexander the Great built in 330 B.C.E. following his conquest of the Achaemenid city known as Artacoana or Aria. Herat was ruled by the Seleucids, Parthians, Kushans, Sasanians, Hephthalites, Umayyads, Taherids, Saffarids and Samanids until the tenth century, by which time the square fortified city was already established.  Located half a kilometer to the south of Kuhandaz and aligned with the cardinal axes, the walled city described by early Arab geographers had four gates leading into crossing commercial avenues and a square citadel (qal'a) adjoining the northern city wall. Nawab Muhammad Bismillah Khan Jorawar Khan Babi (1843-95), Nawab of Radhanpur, 1887 (c). Photograph of Jorawar Khan Babi, the Nawab of Radhanpur, seated in a full length portrait, facing the viewer. He rests his right leg on a foot cushion whilst his right hand rests on a sword. He wears a turban decorated with tassels and a type of sherwani with embroidered edges. Radhanpur State was a princely state in India during the British Raj. Its rulers belonged to a family of Babi House, the state was once a polity within the Mughal Empire. The last ruling Nawab of Radhanpur, Nawab Murtaza Khan, signed the instrument of accession to the Indian Union on 10 June 1948. Radhanpur State was ruled by Babi Or Babai Pathans and had the right to an 11 gun salute. The rulers of the state bore the title of Nawab. A rare photograph of Safia Manto (1916-1977), Zakia Jalal (b. 1928), and Surraiya Nasir-ud-Deen (b. 1927), taken in Lahore right after Partition. After moving to Lahore Saadat Hasan Manto's (1912-1955) and Surraiya Nasiruddin's families lived together for a while.  Surraiya Nasir-ud-Deen was Safia Manto's sister-in-law (her brother’s wife). Her father and uncle held very important positions in the court of Maharaja Pratap Singh (reign 1923-1947) of Nabha in east Punjab.  Safia and Saadat Hasan Manto's families, both from Kashmir, were related to each other. Safia and her siblings were born in Zanzibar. Their father, who was a police officer in the British administration, was killed there during protests staged by local Arab clove merchants.
