Sayed Karam District Name Was Sita Ram. Sayed Karam Paktia
The original name of my native district in Paktia was Sita Ram, according to renown Afghan historian, Abdul Shakur Rashad. It was later named Sayed Karam as part of Arabanization of Afghanistan, following the Arab invasion. Sita is a Hindu goddess and Ram is a Hindu super deity.
Afghanistan was home to Hinduism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism and many of the historical names are related to those civilizations/religions. We have so many examples from all over the country.
