A Historical Pucture of Albanian Lady

 An old Albanian lady dining with her dead husband & children who were killed in 1999 during the Kosovo war. 

This was taken in the town of Gjakova which was one of the most destroyed cities during the war in Kosovo. Her husband and four children were kidnapped on the 27th of March 1999 in a military raid which was very common where they would separate men from women. Men would most often get killed and put in massive graves where two of her children were later found, her husband and the other two children are still missing. 

The youngest one was 14 years old. There has been an ongoing process to uncover all the massive graves in Serbia but that has been going very slowly. This picture was taken after the photographer (Artan Korenica) heard about her story that she has preserved everything in the house and left it untouched since they were kidnapped and for the longest time she would serve dinner for all of them hoping they would return.
