East and West
Two institutions were founded in 1866. The Royal Aeronautical Society was set up in England, while Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband was established in India.
The Royal Aeronautical Society was formed to support and maintain high professional standards in aerospace disciplines; to provide specialist information and a forum to exchange ideas; and to exert influence in the interest of aerospace in the public and industrial arenas.
Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband was instituted on sectarian lines to preserve Indo-Islamic culture and train the youth in Islamic knowledge. Deoband's curriculum is based on the 17th-century Indo-Islamic syllabus known as Dars-e-Nizami.
The following pictures illustrate what follows as communities set their priorities.
