I asked her..'why you love to wear this chail (Chaddar) with red dots? She said.. 'because it represent Swabi and I am from Swabi' I asked.. ' any historical background of the red dots?'. She said .. 'Never heard of any, neither my mother or grandmothers ever mentioned it"
Here is the story of our Chail popped up in 2020 on net (with no authentic source/reference):: "Yousafzais fought a battle against the Sikhs during 1800s, women rushed & covered bodies of their fallen men with their white Chadars which stained it with red dots (blood) thus commemorating the historic victory till today."
I am from Swabi, now in 60s, never heard of this story from my mother or grandmothers or any other elder of Swabi. In my childhood we would recognize women with their Chails (Chadars), Red dotted from Swabi, dark green with small dots would mean from river Indus side (SinGhari). White chail (Chadar) from Razar (Ismaila, mardan, Charsadda).
