Ahmad Shah Baba essentially founded Afghanistan in 1747. He hired people strictly based on merit and did not distinguish between people of different religions. His Governor of Punjab was a Hindu from Kabul named Kabuli Mal who was the confidant of Ahmad Shah Baba. There is still a Haveli called Kabuli Mal Haveli in Lahore. 

He also appointed many Afghan Hindus such as Dila Ram to handle the finances of the country. There is a place named after Dila Ram on the way from Kabul to Herat.
